PRESS STATEMENT:
Statement from Health Care For All’s Executive Director Amy Rosenthal Regarding Release of the House Mental Health Bill
BOSTON – “Health Care For All (HCFA) applauds the House of Representatives for releasing a bill that will improve access to mental health care for individuals and families throughout the Commonwealth. While Massachusetts has made great strides in expanding health coverage, many families still face barriers to accessing the care they need. This is especially true for behavioral health, and the COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated an already growing behavioral health crisis, especially among youth. The House mental health bill contains provisions to help address these challenges. H. 4879 also includes language to specifically address the needs of children, adolescents, and families to help them thrive at home, in school and in the community. We look forward to working with the full legislature to support passage of comprehensive mental health legislation by the end of the session.”
