“Don’t Mourn, Organize”: Honoring Rob Restuccia’s Legacy

March 3, 2021 – This week marks the two-year anniversary of Rob Restuccia’s untimely passing from pancreatic cancer. Rob was one of the original founders of Health Care For All and served as our executive director for close to 20 years. He committed his life to the pursuit of health justice and firmly believed that if consumers had a seat at the table where health care decisions were being made there would be a more equitable and just health care system. Rob was an organizer in his early years – willing to take on a fight when he needed to – but he firmly believed that collaboration was critical and that there were always ways to find common ground with others. He believed we could accomplish more by working together.

I had the privilege to work with Rob for 13 years – he was my mentor, cheerleader and inspiration. On the anniversary of Rob’s death, we will continue to follow his mantra, “Don’t mourn, organize.” The work that Health Care For All continues to do every day is a tribute to his leadership and life-long goal of affordable, equitable health care for everyone.
