About Leslie
Leslie Diaz (she/her/ella) is the Director of HCFA’s Helpline and Public Programs. She works together with the Senior Director to support the HelpLine team as they provide people across Massachusetts with health care coverage assistance. By uplifting the stories gathered through the Helpline’s daily interactions with the public, they aim to help make policy recommendations that will lead to equitable and inclusive health care.
Prior to this role, Leslie spent over five years at My Ombudsman, a program operated by the Disability Policy Consortium and funded by MassHealth. Here, Leslie started as an ombudsman, serving primarily Spanish-speaking MassHealth members, and went on to become the program director, leading a dedicated team helping MassHealth members access needed health care services.
Leslie is a Fellow of the 2022-2023 Restuccia Health Justice Fellowship, a program situated at the intersection of race equity and health justice. She envisions a health care system that actively works to dismantle white supremacy so that people of all backgrounds and identities can lead fulfilling lives. Leslie holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Chemistry from Wellesley College. In her spare time, Leslie enjoys dancing, especially traditional Peruvian folkloric dance.
