About Ann
Ann Hwang, M.D. has spent her career bringing the consumer experience to the forefront of health system transformation efforts, including in her most recent role as director of the Center for Consumer Engagement in Health Innovation at Community Catalyst. In addition to her work at Community Catalyst, Ann is a visiting Fellow at the Department of Health Care Policy at Harvard Medical School where she teaches and contributes to research on health care policy. Moreover, Ann continues her clinical practice in Internal Medicine with a focus on care for vulnerable communities. Ann’s dual roles as a physician and health policy expert give her a unique leadership perspective.
Ann has also served as a Senior Health Policy Advisor to the Massachusetts Health Connector, advised states on ACA implementation as a Senior Consultant with the Wakely Consulting Group, and worked on HIV and global health issues as a legislative aide to U.S. Senator Richard J. Durbin (D-IL). Ann has worked as an attending physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, where she also completed her residency, and the VA Boston Healthcare System. Ann received her medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco.
