About Kathy

Kathy Melley leads communications and provides strategic guidance for HCFA’s Medicaid Redetermination campaign. She has more than 20 years of experience working in the nonprofit, corporate and government sectors. Prior to joining Health Care For All, Kathy served as Director of Communications at Community Catalyst, a national health advocacy organization, where she built the communications department, provided communications counsel to senior leadership, and oversaw media relations, brand, and strategy. She led the organization’s communications campaigns to pass the Affordable Care Act and protect it from repeal.

 

Kathy previously served as Director of Communications and External Affairs at Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries in Boston, where she oversaw public relations, special events and government relations. Earlier in her career she worked at Brodeur Worldwide, a communications agency, and served as a policy analyst in the Massachusetts State Senate. Kathy is vice chair of the Board of Advisors of the Charlestown YMCA and previously served on the University of Massachusetts at Amherst Alumni Board of Directors. She holds a bachelor’s degree from UMass Amherst and a master’s degree from Boston University’s College of Communication.
